Our History:
L.E. Shore Library is the central hub of the Blue Mountains Public Library (BMPL), a dynamic, integrated cultural space that brings together a Gallery, Library, Archives, and Museum under one organizational vision.
Established in 1995, with the L.E. Shore building opening in 1996, BMPL was an early trailblazer of what is now known as the GLAM model. By incorporating a public art gallery directly within the library, the organization set a precedent for interdisciplinary cultural spaces. This innovative approach, along with the facility’s design, earned provincial recognition and awards.
Today, BMPL continues to evolve as a leading GLAM institution. In 2016, the organization expanded to include the Craigleith Heritage Depot, further strengthening its role as a steward of local history, art, and culture.
