Hike Into Summer in Blue
Experience Blue at its summer best with two days of escarpment hikes, shaded forest trails, Georgian Bay views, Apple Pie Trail stops, patio dining, and Village nights. Stay the weekend and give yourself time to climb, wander, refuel, and take in every view along the way.
Crevices, Mountain Views, and Village Nights
Day 1
Morning: Fuel Up and Start Early
Start the day in Thornbury with a premium coffee and fresh pastry from one of the local cafés or Thornbury Bakery before heading out to Metcalfe Rock. An early start gives you cooler temperatures, quieter trails, and time to explore the ancient rock crevices before the day heats up.
Lunch: Follow the Apple Pie Trail
After your hike, stop at a local Apple Pie Trail partner for lunch and a taste of the region. Visit The Cheese Gallery in Thornbury for artisanal pairings, or head to The Market on Marsh in Clarksburg for a fresh sandwich to enjoy on the go.
Afternoon: Explore the Mountain
Make your way to Blue Mountain Resort and take on part of the 30 km trail network across the mountain. Hike up for the reward of a scenic Open-Air Gondola ride back down, or ride up first and enjoy a more casual walk across the top.
* Valid tickets/passes required*

Late Afternoon: Check In and Recharge
Head to your accommodations, unpack, freshen up, and take a little time to relax before the evening begins.
Turns your hike into a full weekend of outdoor adventure and local discovery. The Explore the Escarpment Getaway two-night package includes accommodation, an exclusive Friday Evening Summit Social, self-guided Bruce Trail hike information, a local passport with insider tips, and a special gift to commemorate the weekend.
Resort Accommodations
Evening: Dinner in the Village
End your first day in Blue Mountain Village, where more than 15 restaurants make it easy to find the right post-hike dinner. Settle in, refuel, and enjoy the Village atmosphere after a full day outside.
Forest Canopies and Patio Sunsets
Day 2
Morning: Breakfast and Loree Forest
Start with a hearty breakfast at Brunchie in Thornbury or Sunset Grill in the Village, then take the scenic drive to Loree Forest. This peaceful 5 km loop winds through dense hardwood canopy, with a main lookout that offers beautiful views over the bay.
Lunch: Patio Time
After your morning hike, settle into one of the region’s patios for lunch. Enjoy marina views at The Port in Thornbury, overlook the Beaver River at Polpette, or head back to the Village for lively favourites like Kaytoo or Firehall Pizza Co. with views of the Mill Pond.
Afternoon: Stretch It Out on the Georgian Trail
ake a gentle recovery walk along a section of the flat, accessible Georgian Trail to stretch out tired muscles and dip your toes in the refreshing waters of the bay.
Staying at Blue Mountain Resort? Your accommodations give you access to the Blue Mountain Private Beach for some relaxation under the sun.
Evening: One Last Memorable Meal
Close out the weekend with dinner worth lingering over. Watch the water rush by from The Mill overlooking the Thornbury Dam, or return to the Village for vibrant dishes at Tholos or Mother Tongue.
Make It a Full Hiking Weekend
Blue is no place to rush through. Stay overnight, wake up close to the trails, follow your own pace, and give yourself time to experience the views, local stops, restaurants, and fall moments that make this destination worth the weekend.
